Who are you?
You should probably check the domain name. I am Wes Hall. A professional software developer based in the South East of England.
Why should I listen to what you have to say?
You shouldn’t. It’s probably all wrong. However, I have been writing computer code for 35 years. 25 professionally. It is entirely possible that some useful knowledge was generated during this process. It’s also possible that it wasn’t. You’ll have to be the judge.
OK boomer! Done anything interesting in all that time?
It has all been interesting in it’s own way. I have worked for large companies, small companies as both employee and consultant and I’ve even helped found a few. The companies that I have been involved in as a co-founder are still operating and growing. I am quite proud of being an early contributor to their success.
So you are a dotcom millionaire?
No. Very no. Generally speaking, once companies reach a certain size they require a CTO who likes to go to meetings and talk about long term strategy and stuff like this. My final role is usually helping them find somebody like this and then running away as fast as I can. If I am lucky, one of the existing investors buys my options and I pay a few bills.
I’m looking for a CTO to help me with this great idea…
Let me stop you there and wish you the best of luck. I am now old and tired. I often fall asleep on the sofa after work. My startup hustling days are behind me…
Why does your domain have a hyphen in it? Hyphenated domains kinda suck.
Yeah. The problem is that weshall can be read as “We Shall”. And we shant, we absolutely shant.
I read one of your posts on social media and it offended me. I’ve now found this website and plan to ruin your life, what are my next steps?
I knew one of you lot would find me eventually!
Yes, it is a bit of a hobby of mine to involve myself in controversial debates online. I have upset a lot of people. What you should probably know is that I am in-fact a tedious, middle-of-the-road centrist who isn’t really any kind of danger to anybody. I do sometimes debate for it’s own sake and even take positions that I don’t strongly hold, just for the sport. I do like trying to encourage people to explore their own convictions and it might be this version of me that you have discovered. In any case, if you are that set on causing me trouble I am probably not going to talk you out of it. I wish you the very worst of luck.
Can I contact you privately about something?
I don’t know. You are welcome to, but can you? I’ll wait to find out.
Where is your privacy policy?
Here.
